This last weekend we finally ventured out to San Francisco. Since we've been here the weather in San Fran has been rather cold. But we were lucky because it was sunny and beautiful the day we went. We couldn't have asked for better weather. The drive from Sunnyvale to San Fran is only about 45 minutes, but we thought it would be easier to take the BART (public train kind of like the L in Chicago). Well, it's easier if you are paying attention. We missed our stop and ended up going twice as far. What would have been a 30 minute ride ended up being a 60 minute train ride. Then we had to get off and back on toward San Francisco again- meaning another 30 minutes. Oops! We were definitely tourists that day. Ha Ha!
When we arrived we had to catch a cable car that would take us to Fisherman's Wharf. We walked around a bit before hopping onto a double decker bus for our 90 minute tour of the city. Since this was our first time we thought we'd take the bus tour so that we could then decide on the spots we'd like to hit in future visits. Our tour guide was awesome. She was this young bubbly, silly, funny girl that seemed to know everything about the city, even things I wouldn't think a tour guide would know.
There is so much to see and do in this city. We loved it! There are so many things that make San Francisco completely unique.
We ate lunch at a seafood restaurant that overlooked Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge. It was a great view of the Bay and the seafood was superb.
After about a 12 hour day and a 20 minute cat nap for Xavier we decided to head home. We can't wait to go again and explore some more.
Yeah!! So glad you finally made it up to San Fran! We can't wait to come!! Also, glad to know about the public transportation! One of the only big things I remember about the day I spent there was that the parking was ridiculously expensive! Did you guys make it to the beach? Anway, your pics are so cute! loves and misses!!
My sister used to work on one of the piers in San Fran. She LOVED China Town and bought shoes for her wedding there. If you need any other fun things to do I can ask her. She is in San Jose now. So happy to see you having so much fun!
I love how you say, "FINALLY" made it to San Fran!!! You guys certainly don't let any grass grow under your feet! It looks like such a fun place....one day we'll make it there?! Unfortunately, it's not looking like we'll be able to make it out this summer. FIGURES! LOVE YOU!!!!
