What would you like to learn next year? Pedal a bike
What do you like about yourself? WE love Gavin's silly sense of humor

We had a small party to celebrate Gavin's birthday while Mary, Kathryn, and James were visiting.  I attempted a small dump truck cake.  You can definitely tell I am an amateur, but Gavin loved it and that's all that matters.  (Please don't show it to the Cake Boss though)

2 candles for a terrific two year old!  We sang happy birthday to him so much that day that he learned a new word "happy".  He walked around all day saying happy, happy, happy.  It was precious, because I  could just wrap up his day into one word "HAPPY!"
He is one happy little boy!  He just brings sunshine to our home every day!
He did a pretty darn good job blowing the candles too.
He didn't waste any time digging in!
Now this is the way to eat a cake.  Forks and spoons just get in the way.
We had a construciton themed BBQ party for Gavin's birthday celebration.  We invited some of Gavin's favorite people:  Tricia, Dave, Lydia, Lauren, and Jack Folsom; Catherine, Curtis, Jonathan, and Kaitlyn Vielstich, Henry and Saji Roberson, and Karina and Sebastian Guerrero.
I set up the house to be like a construction area.  Here is the "Building Zone" equipped with lots of building blocks.

It was a little windy so I couldn't get a good shot of the front door.  You get the idea.
"Hard Hat Area"  filled with tools, hard hats, vests, and building projects.

Some signs I used around the rooms for decor.
Digging area- the favorite sand box.
I decided to keep the cake simple.  I just made brownies, cut them up and put them inside his dump truck to give the illusion of dirt.  So easy and perfect for the theme!

We had all sorts of BBQ favorites: watermelon, veggies and dip, chips and salsa, chicken, hamburgers, and hot dogs.
Another dessert I made were dirt cups.
One minor detail I missed- I forgot to empty the pool before the guests arrived.  Naturally the kids eventually gravitated toward the water and Gavin dove right in.  Then he started to "recruit" others by filling up some of the cones and dumping it on their legs.  It became a game for him which he loved and a small water fight ensued.  He definitely became the life of the party.  We all had a good laugh watching him and Brother Vielstich (who is 6+ feet tall) toss water at one another.
Gavin is literally jumping in the air and landing on his toosh while Jonathan tries to stay as dry as he can and still tease Gavin.
I should have made it a pool party.
The tool boy and his tool dad!
Enjoying some dirt!

Gavin with his favorite lady!  Gavin adores miss Kaitlyn.  She always has stickers for him at church.

Gavin had a blast opening his presents and seeing all the "prizes", which are surprises.
Gavin sure enjoyed being the center of so many people's attention.
This little two year old's party sure was a bulldozing smashing good time.
