Three Men and a Lady: End of Year Wrap Up

The end of the school year is a happy, super busy, and sometimes sad time of year. It's a time to celebrate all the growth that has taken place, but it's also a time to say goodbye to a class, a teacher, and a grade that will not be repeated. Friendships were strengthened, relationships deepened, and it's hard to let that go. Thankfully we can take pictures to remember all the wonderful people and events that we all got to experience and cherish them as we recount them in our memories.

Xavier's class held a concert for all parents to see what they have learned from the Leader in Me Program along with a story and songs to entertain. Xavier was one of the narrator's and did an excellent job. He looks like a future president in the outfit he wore. Such a heartbreaker!

Xavier received an award this year for his participation in the Science Fair.

Gavin had such a great year! Mrs. Milburn is the best! I wish my kids could have her every year. She is so sweet, so kind, and you just know she LOVES the kids.

Reid crashed at the end of the concert. It's hard to stay awake during nap time. Conni was an awesome friend and came with Martin to support Gavin in his school concert.

Gavin and one of his best buds at school, Dante. They are two peas in a pod. Gavin always talked about Dante and they always had so much fun together at school.

Being a third grader means lots of big kid projects. This year they mastered states and capitals and finished it off with state floats. Xavier got Kentucky. He built his own Mint out of legos. Inside is gold. It turned out pretty awesome.

In art, one of Xavier's projects was selected to be on display at our local Palmer Park Mall.

Xavier also wrote a poem about sharks that was published in a young poet's book. I'd say Xavier had a great year and really showed some growing talent in the arts.

3rd grade Pretzel Day. I got to help with this fun day at school too thanks to a wonderful husband who was willing to work from home and keep Reid busy. The kids went to many different stations doing all sorts of pretzel activities. At station one the kids made a human pretzel and had to untangle themselves. At station two, my station, there were two giant pretzels spray painted on the grass and the kids had to take a cup of water from the start of the pretzel to the end of the pretzel and dump the water into the bucket. They had to perform different types of movements to get to the bucket at the end such as hopping on one foot, walking backwards, etc. all while holding the cup of water and trying not to spill it. The first team that filled up the bucket with water was the winner.

Gavin's class had a Kindergarten picnic and about 5 minutes after we set up outside it began to rain. Boo! So we gathered all our supplies and headed into the classroom.

Alex, , Gavin, and Zachary. Gavin had so many buds in his class and about 5 of them were also at our bus stop so they became great friends over the year. It would be so cool if they could go through every year of school together. I'll always remember the little football games, tag games, hide-and-seek games, and soccer games these boys would play each day while waiting for the bus. And after school many days we'd walk home together and they'd all climb our tree and hang out for 10 minutes after school. We'd even gather for bike rides in the cul-de-sac or sledding runs during the winter. It was a blast!

And after all these spectacular moments we arrive at our last day of school. Gavin closes his Kindergarten chapter and will now head into first grade. Xavier closes his third grade chapter and heads into fourth grade. Another year complete. Tim and I couldn't be more happy with what great kids these boys are and the amazing things they do each day inside and outside the classroom.
