I thought I'd document our favorite family activity right now, our nature walks. We have a trail in our neighborhood that goes all over and our favorite route takes us through a beautiful area that is lined with all sorts of trees, bushes, etc. We used to just sit Xavier in the stroller, but that last couple times we've gone we have let him do as much walking as his little legs will do and he's loved it. We see so many things on our walks, it's beautiful and it's been nice to do as a family.
Pardon the pictures, it was hard to get clear shots of some of the things. This is a cardinal. There are a few really pretty birds we've spotted, but not sure what they are. This one is one of my favorites because it's red is so bright.
There are rabbits by the dozen around our house. Xavier loves to chase them and "talk" to them. Our neighbors even spotted a small hole in the middle of their yard where a mom made a home for her babies.
My favorite flower on our walks. It sticks out in the most random place, but I love the contrast between the white and the hot pink.
There are even wild raspberries!
Xavier has to eat a handful every time we go on a walk. But daddy said he could only eat the one's daddy picks for him. There are also other berries not edible and we even spotted poison ivy.
Xavier is discovering the art of catching lightning bugs. If we go on our walks at just the right time, on our way back to our house they light up like crazy. Plus, we even get to enjoy an amazing sunset.
Oh how we love summer nights and nature! I'm so glad Xavier is enjoying it as much as his parents.
