4th of July weekend

We hope everyone had a great fourth of July. Since we had just gone on vacation we spent the weekend close to home. But we still managed to go camping.

Daddy set up our tent in the backyard. Xavier was ecstatic. Both boys loved jumping on the air mattress and goofing off inside the tent.

After dinner we invited our neighbors over to roast marshmallows over our awesome fire. As the sun went down Xavier and his friend Aiden had a blast running around the backyard in the dark. They even managed to toss the football around despite the darkness.

After our friends went home we all hung out in the tent and read some bedtime stories. We also snuck in a family movie. Instead of trying to get a one year old to attempt sleeping in the tent I got to sleep in my cozy bed while Gavin slept in his. Tim and X-man slept in the tent. Now that is my kind of camping.

Saturday we fit in a trip to the movie theater to see Cars 2. Xavier really liked it and was already asking if he could watch it again. We had to explain to him we couldn't buy the movie yet. (Definitely on the Christmas list though)

We hit a public pool in the afternoon that had a great kiddie pool and even a section that was about 3 ft. deep, so Xavier could touch the bottom which he liked.

The fourth was a pretty relaxed day.

We set out our pool and enjoyed some fun in the sun and water. The boys had a ball playing in their kiddie pool. Xavier used the slide more for a jumping off point into the pool than a slide.
Gavin is holding the hose and trying to get a drink out of it, instead he got a face full of water.

4th of July is also a great day for grilling, so that we did. Our master griller made some awesome hamburgers for dinner. I contributed by making the corn on the cob.
Off to see some fireworks. Gavin is pretty much in a screeching phase since he can't say too many words, but wants to be heard. He was pretty much ready to go home before the fireworks started and daddy got both the boys popsicles to hopefully keep them happy until the fireworks started. Gavin managed to stop screeching and happily took small licks of his popsicle. As soon as the fireworks started the boys were entranced. I was surprised Gavin didn't get scared. He even kept his cool during the finale, which is the loudest part of the show.

Not the greatest pic, but the best one we got. I'll have to get a better one next year.
This day I am once again grateful for all the freedoms we enjoy in this country. I am even more grateful this year to know that my kids will grow up somewhere they can experience a life of liberty.
