It's that time again.......Science Fair time. This year both boys wanted to enter. Xavier tested which M&M was most likely to crack first when put against the powers of radiation. His theory came from the idea that when you wear a black shirt in the sun it absorbs more heat therefore getting hotter more quickly. So if that's the case then wouldn't the brown M&M absorb more radiation and crack first verses a lighter color like yellow? We shall see......
Setting up the experiment. He placed 3 of every color on a plate and microwaved the candy in 30 second intervals. He tracked which ones cracked when and repeated the process 3 times. Then he compared his data to see if there was a trend on which colors cracked sooner than others.
Gavin wanted to test Newton's third law of motion: For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. To test this theory he made a rocket car. We filled the bottle half way full of water and then pumped air into the cap with a bike pump. Once the air was too full it popped the top off and the car zooooooomed forward. Gavin had a blast doing this!
