Fall is probably my favorite season. The days are cool, sunny, and just perfect. I can wear a light vest or sweater and we can do all sorts of fun activities as a family.
We visited Grimm's Greenhouse for the second year to pick apples. It's Conni and I's tradition to take the boys on Columbus day. It's the perfect day to spend the day off of school.
Reid enjoyed being pulled in the wagon and watching the bigger boys do all the hard work. Such a hard life isn't it?
I love this picture. Standing back just watching the boys do their thing. This moment is a happy moment frozen in time.
Grimm's has acres and acres of orchards of all types of apples. I haven't encountered an orchard with more of a variety. We decided to pick a little of everything and try some apples we haven't eaten before. They were all delicious.
My boys love their apples. As the saying goes.....an apple a day keeps the doctor away. I'm pretty sure that saying is true. My boys eat a lot of apples and they are pretty darn healthy.
Taking a quick pause while all of them are in the same area to take a picture. It's rare when they are all close to each other. Usually they are all going in opposite directions.
These two are peas in a pod. They go together like Peanut Butter and Jelly or Mac and Cheese. Xavier is giving Reid one of his infamous Bay-max rides.
Kim Whitaker and her kiddos met up with us a little later. These three families have kind of grown up together. It's so fun on the rare occasion when we can leave our busy lives of school, church, and sports to meet up and play.
What started out as a cloudy and cool morning turned into a warm and sunny afternoon. These boys were dressed a little to warm so we decided to cool off, get some lunch, and enjoy some pumpkin ice cream. All in all we got some small pumpkins for our porch and pounds and pounds of apples to devour during the week.
My second favorite Fall activity is all of the festivities related to Halloween. Costumes, class parties, Mars big Fall Fest, and trick or treating. Here are some pics from this years endless stream of fall celebrations.
Reid was a Dinosaur and had a big ROAR to match his character. He would go around roaring at anyone who came close to him. Xavier was Hawkeye, Josh was a Stormtrooper, and Gavin was a ninja.
Our ward hosted a trunk-or-treat this year. I decided to dress up this year as a witch. Tim was Harry Potter.
Our car was.....dun dun duh duh dun dun dun duh.... A SHARK........probably not a surprise but it turned out pretty darn good. Tim made the fin on top and I made the teeth and eyes. Our car was the perfect color for such an animal.
Karina did a purple minion which was awesome!
The Reid family, Henry and David Barker came to get their treats. Full-sized candy bars at the shark car......Needless to say we never have extra.

Reid's favorite part about the trunk or treat was getting treats in his bucket and eating a donut on a string.

Tim's team had a Peter Pan theme. The picture does not do it justice. It was pretty fantastic.

Can we say sugar coma anyone? Yes, my kids get wayyyyyyyy too much candy during the month of October.
This is a better picture of Peter Pan and Neverland. They put so much time in planning and decorating for this event every year. It's amazing to see what they come up with each year. It's always different and always amazes me.
Where's Waldo was another favorite. It brought back so many memories I have as a kid. I think I looked at Where's Waldo books way too much. But isn't this room cool?
Toy Story is always a hit with the little ones.

Mars Fall Fest was another success this year and the kids came home with so much chocolate they will have a stomachache until Christmas.
Halloween before it got dark. These kiddos are ready to collect yet some more candy. But this is probably the only time of year they get to eat other brands of chocolate......(I secretly look forward to finding some Baby Ruths, Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, and Rolos)
This kid was a trooper. He kept up with the big kids like a champ. On the last block we were trick or treating on he was ready to crash. Man he has some crazy endurance and doesn't complain one bit about being tired. He just goes and goes and goes. Tim took him back to the house and he enjoyed passing out candy to other boys and girls that rand the doorbell.
This isn't really a Halloweeny picture, but this is another thing I love about Fall. The boys ride their bikes a ton and Reid is so excited to have this strider bike. He cruises on this thing. It's so fun to watch this little guy speed down the sidewalk on a mission to zoom.
Now we just have to work on the pedaling and he'll be on two wheels.
