Gavin has started the Parent Home Program this year. He is still too young for preschool, but Xavier's school district offers the PHP. It is a two year program where a teacher comes to our home two days a week to work on Kindergarten readiness skills. They also have field trips throughout the year. Gavin loves Miss Margie. We have adopted her as our Pennsylvania Grandma.
Gavin, Xavier and I accompanied the PHP group to a visit to the library and Firehouse. Gavin was in heaven.
The librarians organized a storytime with Fireman Small to talk about fires and fire trucks.
Then we got to meet some of the Easton Firemen. Here he is talking about the difference between toys and tools. He showed different toys and then showed matches and lighters and talked about how those are tools and not to be played with.
Then he put on all his gear and let the kids come up and give him high fives. This was great because to most little one's this would be scary. But the firemen want the kids to be around them so they know they are safe and if a child were to experience a fire they would know to run to the firemen rather than hide.
Next a demonstration of how they slide down the pole. They even have a slide they go down. This was definitely a favorite.
Gavin, Xavier, Justin, and Ashton. The big brothers go to school together and the little brothers are buddies. We are also neighbors.
We are so grateful for all the hard work firefighters do to keep us safe from fires!!
