I have not done a post about our little Gavin in a while. Man this boy is a bundle of energy! He never stops moving. He reminds me of the monkey Curious George because he is ALWAYS getting into something, usually something he's not supposed to and trying to figure things out.
He loves to "gump" = jump off of everything. He really likes fire trucks and Elmo right now. He is his Big brother's shadow and does what Xavier does. He acts just like all the big boys and can hold his own pretty good. Since big brother is into ninja's Gavin has picked up on karate kicks and goes around shouting "HIYA!" Gavin has entered the "ME DO IT!" stage and insists on trying to do things all by himself. When bedtime comes around and I put on his pajamas he says "Me Ip"= Me Zip.
Gavin is a daredevil with a marshmallow heart. He always has to sleep with a hundred stuffed animals. And any time he gets hurt he has to have a kiss OR (Bandaid) to make it better. He is the first to make sure another person is okay if they've been hurt. He is always thinking of others. For example, any time we sit down to eat and I have forgotten the straws for the drinks, he will go to the drawer himself and get one for him and everyone else. If he is eating a cookie, he wants everyone else to have one too.
A couple big milestones Gavin has recently experienced is first, giving up his Pacifier!! Wahoo! I cut the tip off one day before nap. Then when we went into his room I picked up the pacifier and told him it was broken. Of course, I had to explain to him that it couldn't be fixed and spent about an hour trying to help him accept this new step in his development. He held the top of the pacifier for a couple days and was finally able to let go. He did it so naturally and willingly. It seemed as if he made up his mind that this was okay. I was proud of his graceful attitude toward such a huge change.
His second big milestone was getting a toddler bed. We moved the boys into the same room hoping they'd both enjoy the company and (praying it would keep them out of our bed a little more) We have had a lot of nap time strikes and bedtime battles during this time of change, but we know that in time it will be the new normal and the routine will once again set in.
Gavin is such a great helper! He is always willing to step in and be of assistance. He will even offer to do Xavier's chores with him and sometimes for him. What a wonderful thing to see- brother's serving each other.
Gavin is a delight in our home. Although he is head strong and Mr. Independent, he brings light, laughter, and energy to our growing family.
